Asanteman Council is resolute on its initial stance of sanctioning beleaguered mayor of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Kojo Bonsu and also barring him from visiting the palace.
According to the council, they are gathering the mayor intends visiting the palace on Tuesday with three sheep to plead for clemency after incurring their wrath in a litany of issues.
But Asamohene Oheneba Kwadwo Afoduor disclosed that the chiefs will only be ready to welcome him if the sheep are meant to thank them for the punishment meted out to him or he has no business at Manhyia.
“We will only welcome him to the palace with the three sheep if he is coming to thank us for punishing him as traditional authorities and calling for his sack by the president”, he said.
Mr. Kojo Bonsu has been accused of showing gross insubordination to the traditional authorities especially the Asantehene.
He is reported to have failed to honour several invitations extended to him over his unilateral decision to remove Chief of Amoaman, Nana Agyenim Boateng who is Otumfou’s representative on the board of the Kejetia Market
Otumfuo’s Manwerehene, Nana Baffour Osei Brentuo Hyiaman V who first communicated the stance of the Asanteman said the traditional council will not rescind its decision of sanctioning him and calling for his head.
He therefore warned that no amount of interventions from either religious leaders or key persons in government can have the decision reversed.
“We have had enough of the disrespect of Kojo Bonsu. He is not the only person who can manage the affairs of Kumasi. The president should appoint a new person”, he disclosed.
