Akufo-Addo’s inaugural speech seems to plagiarise George Bush

H.E Nana Addo Akufo – Addo gave his speech at the Independence Square on Saturday, January 7, 2017,after he was sworn into office.

Some portions of the speech appears to have been picked from the inaugural speech of former US president George Bush without giving intellectual credit or citing him as a source.

“I ask you to be citizens. Citizens, not spectators. Citizens, not subjects. Responsible citizens, building communities of service and a nation of character,” Mr. Bush said on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001

The change can and should start now. I urge you to be citizens, not spectators; citizens, not subjects. Responsible citizens building our communities and our nation. Let us work until the work is done.”
