Yvonne Nelson Hits On NDC Gov’t Again,Claims They Don’t Respect Entertainers In GH;Check Her Reasons

Not long ago actress Bibi Bright came out to moan the sorry state of the Ghana movie industry. It seems her colleague actress Yvonne Nelson Agrees perfectly with her.

The ” If tomorrow never comes actress” , Miss Yvonne in a long chat with MzGee of Hitz FM declared that the industry is dying. She went further to give many reason contributing to the sorry state of the movie industry.

According to the actress cum producer,  piracy is one of the facts contributing to the slow grow of the industry.

To her, movie makers obtained money in return for labour from CD sales years back but the continues illegal production of movies in recent times make producers run at loss.

She made a passionate plea to the government to build well functioning theathers in all then 10 regions of ghana to enable movie producers showcase their art to sectors of the country.

BUT despite the passionate plea to the government, Yvonne Nelson turn around and hit hard again at the government, claiming government don’t respect entertainers in this country

Yvonne believe the government and worship footballers at the expense of  actors and actresses in Ghana who are working hard to project the image of this country.

“The whole industry is slow” Yvonne said. The problem now is piracy because the DVD market is gone. Producers used to get their returns from CDs and DVDs but that is no more so you can imagine the pain.

If government can build cinemas in all regions for us it will really help. If that is done you can release a movie today and somebody in Tamale can also watch it same time with someone in Accra.

There are so many things they can do for us but I believe we don’t have that respect or they don’t respect us as much.They would rather pay attention to footballers than we actors and musicians but we sell Ghana.

A lot of people know Ghana through the music and movies we produce from here.People did not know Ghana but because of our music and movies, Caribbeans know of us.

How can they focus on football and forget us? Are we just thinking it’s all about football? It is very wrong” Yvonne Nelson told MzGee.
