2 people arrested, 3 teen girls wanted for the death of Ghanaian taxi driver in NYC

The New York Police Department has arrested two of the five suspects connected to the murder of the 52-year-old Ghanaian taxi driver, Kutin Gyimah.

Austin Amos and Nickolas Porter both aged 20 years turned themselves in on Wednesday night after they were declared wanted by the NYPD.

Amos faces several charges, including manslaughter, gang assault and theft. He also has six prior arrests, including for robbery, criminal mischief, criminal contempt and sexual misconduct.

Also, three teenage girls aged between 13-16 are also wanted by the police after horrific footage of the attack went viral.

The five suspects were caught in a cctv footage attacking the deceased after they refused to pay their fare and also tried to rob him in Far Rockaway.

The five suspect took turns to assault the taxi driver who was defenceless and when he was able to get back on his feet, one of the man smacked him on the head that sent him to the ground unable to get up.

The suspects then fled the scene and could all be seen smiling on camera as they walked away into the building.

The taxi driver hit his head on the ground causing severe head trauma and later died at the St. John’s hospital where he was rushed to.

Kutin Gyimah was a married man with four young children who lived with his family in the Bronx and worked as a cab driver in Queens.
