Police in Ashaiman have arrested a 21-year-old woman identified as Anita for allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into a police cell for her boyfriend.
According to reports, Anita visited the police station with food items, including pie and yogurt, intended for her boyfriend, Richard Acquah, who is currently in police custody.
However, during a routine inspection by officers, suspected illegal substances were allegedly discovered hidden inside the food items.
Police reportedly found tramadol tablets concealed in the pie and yogurt before the items could be handed over to the suspect in custody.
Sources indicate that Richard Acquah had requested food while being held in the cell, prompting Anita to visit the station with the package.
Her actions, however, allegedly raised suspicion during the inspection process, leading to the discovery of the drugs.
Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the matter to determine the source of the drugs and whether there may be additional individuals connected to the alleged smuggling attempt.
