The National Lottery Authority(NLA) in collaboration with the Volta Regional Police Command has apprehended 4 lotto fraudsters in the Volta Region.

The scammers are identified as Godwin Agbenyefia alias Demon aged 19, Reuben Abusah alias Last Burial aged 20, Kelvin Kwame Abouzi alias Kartel aged 20, and Kingsley Adelekey aged 21.

These fraudsters successfully defrauded a number of people in Akatsi and Ho in the Volta Region.

According to reports, they convinced members of some members of the community desperate for easy money to send them money via mobile money for fake lotto numbers.

These gentlemen posing as staff of the NLA used fake WhatsApp and Facebook accounts in communicating with their victims and blocked them after they had had their way with them.

The Circuit Court in Ho presided over by His Honor, Felix Datsomor has remanded the suspects in police custody to re-appear on 23/9/2020.

Again, the fraudsters would send fake winning coupons to their victims and demand for them to make a contribution via mobile money before receiving their winnings from the NLA.

In addition, they would also convince people to wire them money for registration forms.

The NLA, however, has denied running a system where stakers register to be given lotto numbers and cautioned that any such people running such a program are scammers.

The Authority maintained that it continues to run a transparent system where stakers win perchance and that is why their winners draw is open to the general public for witnessing daily, except Sundays and public holidays.
