It was all joy for Madam Elizabeth Yamoah as she celebrates in grand style following her successful completion of the Basic Certificate Examination-BECE exams that ended today September 18, 2020.

Madam Elizabeth,60 and a mother of four despite the mockery and despondency she went through sat for the BECE which started on Monday, September 14, 2020, through to today, Friday, September 18, 2020.

Elizabeth Yamoah is part of the current batch of the BECE students graduating this year from the Odoben Presby Basic “A” Junior High School.

Speaking to Citinews after she wrote her last paper, Auntie Lizzie, as she is called by her fellow students said she was happy to have taken a bold step towards her dreams of becoming a nurse by writing the BECE.

According to her, the victorious completion of the BECE exam will give her the chance to enter into the Senior High School where she would also sit for the WASSCE then gradually reach out to her childhood dreams of becoming health personnel.

In her statements, whiles speaking to Citinews reporter, her ability to fight off to attend school despite her age must motivate others who wish to become great in future to do the same.

She explained how the feeling was like when she started schooling and what motivated her to despite the mockery, she said;

“When I made up my mind to go to school people in my community mocked me. Some even said that I should leave education for the young ones but I was determined to learn how to read and write and that helped me through my education,”

Auntie Lizzie further disclosed “she has been yearning to achieve academic excellence since she was young but upon the death of her father her dreams were dashed. She was forced to learn a trade as a means of survival”

Some students and teachers who have been motivated by Elizabeth Yamoah’s story shared how it had impacted their lives. “Education, whether formal or informal, has no end”, they said.

This is by far one of the inspiring stories I’ve come across. Congratulations to Madam Elizabeth Yamoah.
