Action Chapel “machomen” storms Tema branch for failing to pay ACI Mother church name franchise

“I am not a violent person, if not like Bishop James Sarh would have left here as a dead man. I am a Zongo boy, they don’t know. I grew up in Ashaiman" - Tema community 10 pastor

Some able-bodied men popularly known as “Machomen” led by Bishop James Sah have allegedly stormed the Tema community 10 Branch of the Action Chapel International (ACI) ministry to halt service.

According to what we have gathered, Bishop James Sarh under the patronage of Archbishop Duncan Williams stormed the premises of the Tema Community 10 branch during church hours to demand payment for the church’s continuous use of the Action Chapel franchise without payment.

The presiding pastor of the Tema Community 10 Branch said he was asked by Archbishop Duncan Williams himself to return all church accounts to the leadership of ACI due to delays in payment of his monthly 10% which he is supposed to return for using the name of the mother church.

In an audio recording, the pastor said it was out of his own will that he decided to partner with the mother Action Chapel to set up its branch at Tema.

On the machomen who stormed the church, he said: “I am not a violent person, if not like Bishop James Sarh would have left here as a dead man. I am a Zongo boy, they don’t know. I grew up in Ashaiman, I can get boys too. But I love peace.” he said.

He explained that the mother church never assisted him in any way to get the church to where it is now, for which reason he had resolved not to ever pay Duncan Williams a dime again. “Besides, the current church premises was rented by me and we have other projects to embark on”, so couldn’t make for the 10% payment to ACI.

Interestingly, it has been revealed the widely respected Archbishop has on several occasions applied to the bank where the church money is being saved to freeze the church’s account. We are unable to put out the name of the bank. The bank on all occasions refused to freeze the account, citing the fact that although they know him as the leader of the mother Church, he is not a signatory to the account and not part of standard banking practice to do so without a court order.

Checks also revealed that the Action Chapel Tema Branch with a membership of a little above 100 worshipers has about Ghc 606,000 in their account.

With the machomen storming the church, Church service was halted and the worshippers sacked as the pastors were dragged out to discuss the terms of payment of the 10% franchise fees.

But the Presiding Pastor of Tema Branch in an audio recording said he feels humiliated by the action of the respected Archbishop and with immediate effect he and his elders have decided to take off the name of Action Church in their branch name. He avers that the name has been a “useless”, “expensive” addition to their brand.
