The African Cup of Nations(AFCON) trophy has reportedly gone missing at the Egyptian Football Association’s(EFA) Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

The most coveted silverware in African Football has mysteriously disappeared from the CAF Headquarters.

The Egyptian national team coached by legendary coach Hassan Shehata won the title on three occasions from 2006 to 2010 earning them a claim to the trophy.

However, former EFA vice president Ahmed Shobier reported that they found out the trophy is no longer in its cabinet.

“The EFA started looking for some trophies as they aim to put them in a notable museum inside the EFA,” Ahmed stated.

He added that “The EFA was surprised to find that the AFCON trophy was lost and decided to open an investigation.”

According to him, the Association was informed by an employee that it was held by former Egypt captain Ahmed Hassan who denied this claim.

Currently, nobody knows where the trophy is.
