The leader and founder of the Ghana Freedom Party, Maame Akua Donkor has criticized President Akufo Addo for some of the statements he made when he was interviewed on Aljazeera.
At a point during the interview, President Akufo was asked about gayy rights in Ghana and why hom0sexu*lity is still illegal. He said:
“This is the socio-cultural issue if you like…I don’t believe that in Ghana, so far, a sufficiently strong coalition has emerged which is having that impact on public opinion that will say: ‘Change it [the law], let’s then have a new paradigm in Ghana.”
Juxtaposing Ghana’s situation to that of the England the president stated that “I grew up in England; I went to school as a young boy in England and I grew up at a time in England when hom0sex*ality was banned there, it was illegal and I lived in the period when British politicians thought it was anathema to think about changing the law and suddenly the activities of individuals, of groups, a certain awareness, a certain development grew and grew and grew stronger and it forced a change in law. I believe those are the same processes that will bring about changes in our situation.” He stated
Speaking with the media, Madam Akua Donkor showed her displeasure with how President Akufo Addo handle the questions asked him. She also alleged The president is in a s*xual relationship with his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. She said:
‘’with the opportunity that the president had he should have condemned such acts but he rather expressed the optimism for legalization in the near future. That’s so unfortunate.’’
‘’I can tell you on authority that the president and his vice Bawumia are gayys. In fact, Bawumia is a disgrace to all Muslims and the president is also an embarrassment to Christendom.’’ She lashed out.
