The General Secretary for Ghana Freedom Party, George Afful, has disclosed that the family of late Akua Donkor rejected an amount of Ghc 15,000 from Roman Father, who was the Vice-Presidential candidate on behalf of the party.
Speaking with Captain Smart on Onua Maakye, the General-Secretary disclosed that when the news of the demise of the party founder became known, they party visited the family to mourn with them.
He said the visit ended with a meeting between the family and the party executives after which it was agreed for her funeral to be held in Accra.
While leaving, he said Roman Father gave the family GhC15,000 for them to start making arrangements as a family.
He added that shortly after leaving, they received a call from the family saying that they have decided to organise the funeral in their hometown.
Not just that, but they also added that they heard Roman Father received an amount of Twenty billion old cedis(GHc2 million) from the then NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama out of which he gave them Ghc15,000, so because of that, they don’t want the money.
The General Secretary added that shortly after their phone call, they(the family) sent back the money to Roman father and that was the last time the family involved the party in the funeral planning.
