Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician and producer Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr popularly known as Shatta Wale has disclosed that he is currently on a weed break.
According to Shatta Wale, most people believe most of his actions are influenced by weed so he has stopped smoking to prove a point.
He denied reports that he usually smokes marijuana to get high to enable him to deliver a good show or performance.
The “My Level” hitmaker explained that he has been blessed with great talent and does not perform under the influence of any hard drugs.
“I stopped smoking because people thought weed was influencing me in the industry and I wanted to show people that I love dancehall but I can stop smoking weed. Weed doesn’t give me the lyrics, it’s God.
I want the public to know that just as my father watched me grow up into the wonderful person that I am now, I also want to see my kids grow.
Again, people have the misconception that I need to smoke weed to be ‘high’ in order to render a good show, but I want them to know that I’m delivering on God-given talent and not under the influence of substances like weed.
Though I have come out publicly to state the fact severally that I’m on weed break, they don’t believe me”, Shatta Wale stated.
The controversial dancehall musician also stated that he has severally pointed out that he is on a weed break but people fail to believe him.
He added that he is at a point in his life where he wants to see his children grow and be proud of him.
