You fought hard to bring your children this freedom.
Your bloody sweat conquered and won independence;
But your children cannot hold firm and defend the built kingdom.
You are now getting old!
Your once upon strong arms are getting cold
I can see the wrinkles on your face!
And I don’t need to be told!
We stand here today to celebrate you Ama Ghana!
The only mother of our land!
We have made you dirty by littering the land you toiled in building for us.
We have raped the virgin land all in name of digging up the gold you kept beneath you.
Our water bodies are bleeding.
We dug and raped you.
You cry out loud anytime we disobey you and that causes flood.
You blink your eyes just to correct our errors and that causes fire outbreaks.
Some years ago we picked up your roasted sons and daughters
when fire, petrol and rainwater decided to have dinner.
The hospitals you built for us are retiring us to our early graves.
We are now in bed with the lady you asked us not to get closer (corruption)
And we are gradually giving birth to money vampires who end up sucking the blood (money) outta you.
Speak! Ama Ghana Speak!
Silence is golden
But this silence is causing more harm than good.
Your children are craving for food!
Speak Ama Ghana!
You are 63 years today!
Just make a wish Mama.
Why Ama Ghana why??
You gave us the gold, the oil, the rich virgin lands, the sea, Cocoa and a host of everything needed to make life comfortable but we still beg before we eat.
We can’t watch you die in this filth!
We can’t watch you die in this corruption.
We can’t watch you killed by your greedy children.
Cause us to do your will Ama Ghana.
Correct us in gentility when we err
We promise to make you a proud Mama!
We promise not to rape you through galamsey
We promise not to suck the blood in you through corruption.
We promise to hold firm your ideals, traditions and identity.
We promise not to beg from the extended family.
We promise to be citizens but not spectators.
