A legendary Ghanaian Highlife musician Amakye Dede has been installed as chief at Agogo. His stool name is Barima Okyeredom Amakye Dede I.
At a colorful ceremony held at Agogo on 1st January 2018, the Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo traditional area, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong has conferred an honorary chieftaincy title on legendary highlife artiste, Amakye Dede.

According to Agogomanhene, the title ‘Okyeredom’ means Amayke Dede is a crowd-puller and exceptional singer whom through his career has won numerous accolades for himself and for Agogo.
The chief of Agogo Nana Akuoko Sarpong also announced that the conferment is to show the appreciation and love of the people of Agogo to Amakye Dede for his newly constructed hotel in the town.
“…I want to assure nananom that I will take my responsibility very seriously and I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do”, he said during his acceptance speech.

He noted in the acceptance speech that he will assure that he takes his new role very seriously and deliver as expected.
Nevertheless, the ceremony also saw the installation of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. Kwaku Kyei as Obrempon of Agogo.
His new name now is Obrempon Kwaku Kyei for contributing in diverse ways to ensuring the development of the area.
