Veteran highlife musician, Amakye Dede has been honoured in the U.S with the Key to the City of Worcester, Massachusetts on August 12, 2018, during his performance at this year’s ‘Amakye Dede US Tour’ for his contribution and excellence in the creative arts industry.
The “Key to the City” is an honour bestowed by a city upon esteemed residents and visitors.
The highlife legend was handed the Key by the Mayor of Massachusetts, Joseph Petty.
As part of his annual USA tour, Amakye Dede and his Apollo High Kings Band on August 12, 2018, performed to a packed audience at St. George Orthodox Cathedral, Worcester who were unable to resist the exciting performance.
This is not the first time the Mayor has given the Key to the City of Worcester to a Ghanaian celebrity as celebrated musicians like Shatta Wale, Okyeame Kwame and Actor Abraham Attah have all been given the Key during their respective visits to the City.
