Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has sent a petition to the National Media Commission (NMC) to investigate Justice Kweku Annan a presenter with Accra based Hot FM, for “unwarranted attacks.”
According to the ace investigative journalist, the said presenter has been attacking him and his Tiger eye PI firm on his radio show called “Ghana Must Know”.

Anas revealed that the unnecessary attack from the presenter started prior to the premiering of his latest investigative work “Number 12” which exposed the wrongdoings in the football fraternity.
“…prior to the broadcast and after the publication of the undercover work “Number12? we found out to our surprise unnecessary and unwarranted attacks on Tiger Eye, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, CEO of the company and Anas’ mentor, Kweku Baako, editor in chief of the new crusading guide. Mr. Annan has been using Hot FM platform to malign us with no justifiable proof and/or evidence.”

Anas in his petition said, this compelled him and his Tiger eye team to investigate Mr. Annan whom they allege had been bribed by some people to execute such machinations against them.
“We posed as a relative to a man who had been exposed by Anas and his team and wanted to see Anas destroyed. We met Mr. Annan on three occasions –twice at Kempinski hotel in Accra and Afrikiko around Jubilee House–circa 1 June, 5 June and 22nd June 2018.”
“Our sting operation revealed that contrary to journalism actuated by the highest ideal principles of decency, Mr. Annan was engaged in a media practice sold to the highest bidder. He revealed that he is already involved in a similar project purposely designed to destroy the credibility of Mr. Anas and Mr. Baako. He told us, there are a group of influential Ghanaians including politicians such as Kennedy Agyapong, MP, Assin Central, who are bent on exposing the face of Anas and eventually destroy his credibility with series of untruths and lies. He revealed the operation is on two platforms – Radio and Television. That Mr. Agyapong is in charge of television whilst he Annan is in charge of radio.”

Anas stated that Justice demanded an amount of GHc35,000 as initial payment to contribute to the project to destroy Anas, Tiger Eye PI, and Mr. Baako, and subsequently will come for extra money as the project advances of which he paid GHc5000.
Anas in his petition said although they are not opposed to any journalist/or media house using transparent inquiry to expose ills in society, “…the element of bribery and inducement as a motivation to destroy a fellow journalist and media house is simply unacceptable and an affront to the good profession.”
He further asked the NMC to immediately probe the presenter since to him, such actions are not in accordance with the highest journalistic standards and media ethics pursuant to section 13 of National Media Commission Act, 1993 (Act 449).

“It is upon the foregoing that we request a full-scale investigation into the activities of Mr. Annan and Hot FM. We thank the NMC very much in anticipation of its speedy evaluation of this case and subsequent consideration for immediate action,” Anas added in the petition.
Tigereye PI attached to the petition audio and visual recordings of their meetings with the radio presenter, publications by Hot FM in the month of June, as well as a transcript of the audio and video meetings to back their claims.
Anas and his Tigereye PI team have already sued Mr. Kennedy Agyapong for defamation, whiles some of those affected in the investigative piece have equally sued Anas for defaming them, and in some cases for invading their privacy.
