The elders of the three towns with sexually suggestive names have said that they risk being killed by their ancestors if they change the controversial names of their towns.
According to them, the sexually suggestive names were given by their ancestors for specific reasons and hence ought not to be changed.
Asked if they would be ready to accept a change in their names, the elders said NO arguing that they hope the names of the towns will serve as a tourist attraction for them.

“We will not change the names, our ancestors will kill us if we change the names, our ancestors gave us strict instructions not to change them…,” one of the elders told UTV

It was all laughter in Parliament when Member of Parliament for Abriem Constitution, Mr John Osei Frimpong asked the Minister for Energy, whether the ministry has plans to provide off-grid electricity to communities in the Aberim constituency in the Eastern Region such as Kyiri Ahanta, Twenwinso, Etwe Nim Nyansa, Kote Ye Aboa, Hwoa Ye Mmobo, Akyekyeresu, Tetteh Brofo, Asarekrom, Alhajikrom and Yaw Broni.

It might surprise you that all these sexually suggestive names of communities exist in this country but indeed so are their names.
These sexually suggestive village names translate to the English language as follows:
* Etwe nim Nyansa – “Vagina is Wise”
* Kote ye Aboa – “Penis is a Fool”
* Shua ye Morbor – “Testicles are Sad”.
Explaining the rationale, a grandson of one of the early settlers, Atta who is a resident of ‘Kote ye Aboa’ – “Penis is a Fool” explained to the television station there were three brothers who settled in the area. Read the full story here.
