Andre Ayew takes over from Asamoah Gyan as Captain of Black stars

Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah has named André Ayew as the permanent captain of the Ghana National team.

This decision follows a meeting with persons in the helm of affairs in the Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee. His decision was approved and was fully backed by the committee.

Asamoah Gyan, who has captained the Black Stars for seven years has been elevated to the position of “General Captain”, a decision which he initially opposed until the intervention of President Nana Addo. Subsequently, Kwadwo Asamoah has been named the deputy captain.

President of the GFA-NC Dr Kofi Amoah has called on all stakeholders and citizens to support the transition whilst the Black Stars prepare the team for  AFCON 2019
