Former member of the black stars Samuel Osei Kuffour has jumped to the defence of his former teammate and captain of the Blackstars Asamoah Gyan after some section of Ghanaians called on him to apologise for failing to make Ghana progress in the 2010 World cup held in South Africa.

The 2010 World Cup had remained in the hearts of Ghanaians because Asamoah Gyan missed a penalty that could make Ghana progress to the next stage of the tournament which is the Semi-finals after Luis Suarez used his hands to prevent Ghana from scoring.

Even though Asamoah has apologized for his inability to score the goal his former teammate Samuel Osei Kuffour has stated that Asamoah did not need to apologize to Ghanaians.

“I will tell him should not say sorry to anybody. In that 2010 tournament, how many penalties did he not score for Ghana? How many goals did he not score for Ghana in that same tournament? Asamoah Gyan is the leading scorer for Ghana as far as Black stars is concerned. For just one mistake he should come and apologise….I don’t think so”, he revealed.

The former Black Stars Defender wondered how they want such an apology to be given. “Do they want him to go from one house to the other apologizing to Ghanaians for the missed penalty? I don’t think he should” he concluded.
