Ghanaians woke up to see a horror video of 7 boys raping a young lady circulating on social media in December 2017. It turned out the incident happened in Bantama, a suburb in Ashanti Region.

The video sparked uproar on social media. The police quickly moved in and arrested 3 of the seven-member gang while they mount a manhunt for the rest.

The arrested Bantama boys who were later identified as comprising of a Junior High School (JHS) and two Senior High School ( SHS) appeared before an Asokwa District Court 1, the presided judge Mr. Peter Oppong Boahen.

The judge ruled that investigations have revealed the boys have hit the age of 18 and as such need to appear at a higher court and not at the juvenile court.

What this means is that the boys will be rearrested by the police and arraigned before a circuit court to face charges of rape
