The government has fulfilled a promise to employ widow of slain Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, Barbara Mahama and she is set to work with one of the country’ foreign missions as her recruitment processes have been completed.
Dominic Nitiwul, the Defense Minister, has said that she settled for employment at a foreign mission after several opportunities were put before her.She has then landed on a communications role at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of government’s package to her.
“We gave her options; she is into communications so we gave her options, she said she wanted a particular job at the Foreign Ministry and we put her there. The idea is to take her completely away from this country for some time so that she does not keep remembering those problems that are there”, the Defense Minister stated during a two-day visit to the Western Region.
The Late Major Maxwell Adam MahamaThe defense minister, however, continued to explain that the government’s various efforts to support the family during their difficult time was because there was so much outrage from the public, military, and civil societies, that government felt it was sensible to intervene.

He also indicated that Barbara had been working at the foreign affairs minister for about a month and a half.
Barbara MahamaMajor Mahama was given a state burial, with the government pledging its full support to the widow and her two sons after he was gruesomely lynched six months ago.
The late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama who was the Platoon Commander of an anti-galamsey taskforce at Denkyira-Obuasi in the Upper Denkyira West District of the Central Region.
He was gruesomely murdered in May this year after residents mistook him for an armed robber after seeing him with a sidearm.
