Gareth Bale scored one of European football’s great goals to help Real Madrid overcome Liverpool and win their third successive Champions League title as goalkeeper Loris Karius suffered a personal nightmare.
As it has happened on previous occasions, Barcelona were sporting enough to send a congratulatory message to Real Madrid minutes after Los Blancos were proclaimed European champion in Kiev.
Similar messages were sent in the previous two seasons. The Catalans used Twitter to pass on their greeting.
