The paramount chief of Ejura, Barima Osei Hwedie II, is set to celebrate a remarkable decade of leadership, progress, and cultural preservation as he marks his 10th anniversary of enstoolment as Ejurahene and head of the Ejura Traditional Council.
Enstooled in 2015, Barima Osei Hwedie II has spent the last ten years steering the Ejura community toward unity, order, and developmentโan achievement that has earned him admiration across Asanteman.
As part of activities marking the anniversary, Barima Osei Hwedie II hosted a massive Yam Festival in October, drawing residents, dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts to celebrate one of Ghanaโs most cherished staple foods.
In an exclusive interview with GhPageโs Rashad, the Ejurahene explained that the festival sought to highlight the historical origins of yam within Asante history.
He revealed that yam was first discovered in 1642 by the ancestors of Ejura during their migration from Mampong in search of fertile land and better living conditions.
Barima Hwedie IIโs reign has been characterized by visionary development and strong leadership. Under his stewardship, Ejura has seen major infrastructural improvements, including:
A state-of-the-art police station, a modern school, a newly built prison camp, restoration of peace, discipline, and social order in the community

The 10th anniversary celebration is themed:โA Decade of Order, Unity and Growth: Barimaโs Quest in Promoting Stability and Development in Ejura.โ
The grand durbar and official anniversary event will take place on 28th December 2025 at the Church of Pentecost, Grace Memorial Temple at Ejurafie.
The celebration is expected to bring together chiefs, clergy, government officials, and community members to honor Barima Osei Hwedie IIโs legacy and reaffirm Ejuraโs commitment to continued development.
