So sad: Two beauty queen contestants drown during a photo shoot

Two finalists of “Face of University Students Association USAG” beauty pageant identified as Lily Ampofowaa Asiedu and Sara Kwarteng have met their untimely death after they had gone for a photo shoot session.

Lily Ampofowaa and Sara Kwarteng where supposed to represent their institutions which happens to be the University of Ghana and University of Education Mampong Campus this evening in the finals of the pageant, met their untimely death after they had gone to Oasis beach in Cape Coast.

The incident according to a source, the sad incident happened yesterday Thursday 16th August night when the strong waves of the ocean swept towards the shores and washed them away they were on a rock taking images.

Director of Public Affairs of the University of Cape Coast, Major (rtd) Baah Bentum, who confirmed the unfortunate death of the two finalists, revealed that they were part of a group of students who were attending the annual congress of the University Students Association (USAG) hosted by the UCC.

A gentleman believed to be the cameraman who also sustained severe injuries is on admission at the University of Cape Coast hospital while the bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited in the morgue pending an autopsy.

It is unclear if Organisers of the event will still go ahead with the contest having been struck by this tragedy in the wake of attempts by authorities of the Cape Coast University in collaboration with the Students Representative Council to convey the sad news to the bereaved families.
