2. TP Mazembe – Congo DR – 1587 points

Tout Puissant Mazembe was founded in 1939 and is currently based in Lubumbashi in the DRC. They have won the national league 15 times and the national cup 5 times.

They are currently the strongest league team in the Congo winning it in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. However, their last cup win was back in 2000!

TP Mazembe has been extremely successful in international football in the last few years. Winning the CAF Champions League in 2009, 2010, 2015, the CAF Confederations Cup in 2016, the CAF Super Cup in 2010, 2011 and 2016.

Arguably their biggest success was ending in second place in the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup, losing to Internazionale in the final match. TP Mazembe is certainly one of the best football clubs in Africa!

1. Al Ahly – Egypt – 1594 points – The Best Football Club in Africa

Al Ahly was founded in 1907 and has never been relegated in its more than a century-long existence. They are considered the most successful Egyptian football club with 38 national titles and 35 national cups.

Internationally they have also done very well with a record 8 CAF Champions League titles (most recently in 2012 and 2013). They are also the record holders in the African Cup Winners’ Cup with 4 wins and the CAF Super Cup with another 6 wins (last wins in 2013 and 2014).

Further, they also won the CAF Confederations Cup in 2014.

Al Ahly is considered the best football club in Africa. Not only because of their prized history, but also because of their recent results. However, TP Mazembe is certainly not far behind and is arguably the most successful African club of the last few years.
