5 ‘Big’ murders in Ghana Police are still investigating

Death is inevitable and it is considered as a sad or unpleasant occasion. Many cultures and religions have the idea of an afterlife and also hold the idea of reward or judgement or punishment for past sin.

Homicide is the act of one human killing another and it is not common in our part of the world (Ghana) but it seems in modern times, it has been on the ascendency.

Homicides that has taken place in Ghana often involves high profile personalities and it’s unfortunate that the Police service and other security agencies have not been able to bring these murderers to book.

Ghanapage.com gathered a list of some high profile personalities that have been murdered in cold blood and the police are yet to prosecute anyone.

J.B Danquah

Joseph Boakye Danquah was the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency and was stabbed to death in his home at Shiashie in Accra on 9th February 2019.

A 21-year-old man was arrested as the prime suspect, two days after the gruesome murder.

Vincent Bosso was also arrested weeks later after the incident as a suspect and these two suspects denied killing J.B. Danquah.

On 20th June 2018, Daniel Asiedu admitted to committing the crime and claimed that he was contracted by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to kill the MP.

Vincent Bosso and Daniel Asiedu are still in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

It’s been two years since Joseph Boakye Danquah was murdered in a gruesome manner and no one has been prosecuted.

Fennec Okyere

Fennec Okyere was the Operations and Marketing Manager of Creator Digital Logistics Company under Josbon Group of Companies.

He was also known in the Ghana Entertainment Industry because he was the manager of rapper, Kwaw Kese.

Fennec was stabbed to death at his Manet Garden residence at Spintex on 13th March 2014 by unknown assailiants.

The news of his death shocked everyone as Fennec was known to have a gentle personality and no one would want him dead.

An investigation was launched and the former manager of Shatta Wale, Bulldogg originally known as Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson was arrested on 10th April 2014 as the prime suspect because he threatened to kill Fennec.

The Attorney General on 22nd Septemebr 2017 disclosed that the state was no longer interested in prosecuting Bulldogg and he was freed.

It has been five years since Fennec Okyere was murdered and the security services have done nothing for justice to be served.

FENNEC OKYERE

Josephine Asante

Josephine was the Public Affairs Manager of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and was stabbed to death in her bedroom by unknown assailiant on January 12, 2019.

The incident happened after she returned from a staff party and was found dead by her child and houseboy.

Her houseboy was arrested as a crime suspect as the CID discovered some cash and wrist watch buried in the house.

The houseboy also confirmed that he saw a man in black shirt runing out of the house after throwing the keys on the compound.

It has been days since the murder of Josephine Asante took place and the murderer has not been found.

Captain Maxwell Mahama

Captain Maxwell Mahama was lynched by a mob in Denkyira Obuasi on May 29th, 2017 after he was mistaken for an armed robber.

Maxwell Mahama who was a military officer of 5th Infantry Battalion was jogging in the area and some villagers seeing a pistol on him mistook him for an armed robber and attacked him.

The video of Maxwell Mahama being lynched went viral and came as a great shock as he was really tortured.

With the help of the video, about 20 people were arrested as suspects but no one has been prosecuted.

Captain Maxwell Mahama was promoted to a Major after his death. May he rest in peace.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale Divera

Ahmed Suale was killed on wednesday, 16th January 2019 by two unknown gunmen at Madina, a suburb of Accra.

Ahmed was an investigative journalist working with Tiger Eye PI, owned by popular Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

It was reported that the gunmen waited for hours in his vicinity and even interacted with his some of his family members before killing him.

No one has been arrested for this gruesome murder but some Ghanaians are pointing accusing fingers at the Member of Parliament of Assin North, Kennedy Agyapong for being the brain behind the murder because he threatened him.

Ahmed who is an undercover Journalist usually hides his identity but Kennedy Agyapong released his pictures after the Number 12 expose which brought to light the corruption in the Ghana Football Association.

However, Kennedy Agyapong has refuted claims that he is behind the killing of Ahmed and no one has been prosecuted.
