Suspected robbers have taken the holy black stool from Kumasi’s Sokoban Krofrom Palace.
According to the currently available information, the incident, which has led to anxiety in the area, occurred when the newly appointed chief and other members of the royal family travelled to the Manhyia Palace to take an oath of fealty.
The black stool and other valuables were reportedly taken away when six burly men with pistols and machetes burst into the castle and damaged the metal gate.
The suspected thieves could not be stopped.
Those who attempted to arrest the men were allegedly attacked.
In Akan culture, the stolen stool is a representation of authority, leadership, and the royal family’s spiritual legacy.
Police have visited the palace and begun an investigation in the interim.
