Accra high court has reversed the Electoral Commission’s disqualification of Hassan Ayariga tha APC leader. The APC filed a suit at the court to challenge his disqualification from contesting the Ghana 2016 elections in December.
The high court ruling has directed the EC to grant Dr. Hassan Ayariga the permission to correct the errors that lead to his disqualification within a given period of time.
The court further stated that ,it was unreasonable for the EC to straight away disqualify Dr. Hassan without first giving him opportunities to rectify those mistakes.
13 prospective contestant who submitted their forms to context for the presidency in Ghana were disqualified for various levels of error. The EC cited constitution provision CI 94 as the criteria for the disqualification.
Less than a week ago, Dr. Papa Kwasi Nduom won the case against his disqualification by the EC, although th EC have filed an appeal at the supreme court to quash the high court’s decision on the Nduom case.
