Breaking: Russian Supreme Court Bans Jehovah’s Witnesses From Operating In The Country

The Jehovah Witness Church has suffered a severe blow from the Supreme court of Russia. The Supreme Court in Russia last Thursday ruled that Jehovah’s Witnesses are an “extremist” organization and must hand over all its property to the state

Russian authorities have put several of the group’s publications on a list of banned extremist literature and prosecutors have long cast it as an organization that destroys families, fosters hatred and threatens lives.

Interfax news agency quoted Sergei Cherepanov, a Jehovah’s Witnesses representative, as saying that the group will appeal the decision in the European Court of Human Rights. “We will do everything possible,” he said.

It remains to be seen what the Europen Court of Human Rights will decide if they proceed to appeal the case there.
