Cameroon has just confirmed its first case of the dreaded novel coronavirus (COVID19).
Confirming this in a public statement the Public Health Minister Manaouda Malachie said;
was placed in solitary confinement in the Care Centre of the Yaounde Central Hospital for appropriate treatment,”

The public health minister further reassured the public and saying that “all measures are being taken by the government to contain possible risks of the spread of the virus.”
Revealing the details of the case, the minister identified the patient zero as a 58-year-old French citizen who arrived in the capital Yaounde on Feb. 24.
Cameroonians were strongly urged to be vigilant and respect hygiene rules.

Cameroon is now part of the Sub-Saharan African countries who have confirmed cases of COVID19. These countries include Nigeria, Senegal, Togo and South Africa.
