Captain Smart issues a strong warning to Akosua Serwaa

Captain Smart, has waded into the ongoing legal tussle surrounding the funeral of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

The controverisal journalist has boldly declared that the ceremony will proceed as planned despite a court injunction.

Last Wednesday, Daddy Lumba’s family announced that the highlife icon would be laid to rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The announcement was made by family spokesperson and former Manhyia North MP, Collins Amankwah, who outlined detailed plans for what is expected to be a grand farewell.

However, shortly after the announcement, reports emerged that Akosua Serwaa, Lumba’s first wife, had filed a court injunction against the funeral.

The injunction reportedly targets family head Victor Kofi Owusu Boahene, Transitions Funeral Home, and Odo Broni, the late musician’s alleged second wife.

Reacting to the legal development on his Onua Maakye show on Friday, October 10, Captain Smart dismissed the injunction’s impact, insisting that nothing would stop the funeral from taking place.

“Daddy Lumba’s funeral will be held on December 6. No one can stop it from happening,” he stated firmly.

The outspoken broadcaster further dared any court bailiff or officer to attempt serving the injunction at the funeral grounds, warning that such an effort would be futile.

According to Captain Smart, the presence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, would make it impossible for anyone to interfere with the ceremony.

“If you are a bailiff and you see Otumfuo sitting under his palanquin at the funeral, bring the court injunction. Bring it there—we will be waiting for you,” he declared.

His comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some Ghanaians applauding his defense of the planned funeral, while others have criticized him for appearing to undermine judicial authority.

A video of Captain Smart’s fiery remarks has since gone viral on social media, reigniting debate over the legal and cultural complexities surrounding the funeral of one of Ghana’s most beloved musicians.
