Cardi B has been awarded $1.25 million in damages after winning a libel lawsuit against a YouTuber for invading the 29-year-old rapper’s privacy.
According to People, the court determined that LaTasha Kebe (also known as Tasha K) ‘intentionally’ caused the rapper ’emotional distress.’
The verdict was announced on Monday, after a two-week trial in which both sides presented their arguments.
In March 2019, the Bodak Yellow hitmaker petitioned the court to take action against Kebe’s’malicious’ comments accusing the I Like It rapper of cheating on her husband and other allegations.
The Grammy-winning rapper also claimed that the social media personality was attempting to ‘destroy’ her career with baseless accusations that began in April 2018.
On January 13, the rapper told the jury that she considered suicide in response to claims made by the YouTube channel unWinewithTashaK.
According to Billboard, the actress “felt extremely suicidal and helpless,” while TMZ quoted her as saying, “I felt defeated and depressed, and I didn’t want to sleep with my husband.”
Meanwhile, Kebe denied the rapper’s claims and filed her own lawsuit, which was later dismissed, according to Rolling Stone.
