Former skipper of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has expressed his underlying desire to return to the team for the 2022 World Cup.
According to him, he has unfinished business with the Black Stars thus he should be allowed to complete it at the world cup.
Reacting to the news, winger Christian Atsu who used to feature in the Black Stars with Asamoah has called for his inclusion in the team.
According to him, Asamoah Gyan needs to be honoured for his exceptional work as far as his role in the Black Stars is concerned.
Thus, his wish to play at the world cup should be granted by the state as an honour to the top goalscorer in the history of the national team.
Asamoah Gyan was dropped from the Black Stars squad after the abysmal performance of the entire team at the 2019 AFCON. That was his last call-up. Although he has stated that he is not done with football, Asamoah Gyan has not looked attractive to subsequent Black Stars coaches.
However, he has maintained that as Africa’s top goalscorer at the World Cup, he would love to play at the 2022 edition in Qatar and Christian Atsu believes his wish must be granted.
