The President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has directed all his ministers and appointees who have the intention of following him for his Ashanti regional tour to join an intercity STC bus he has rented.
According to the directive, this action by the President is to protect the public purse which would have meant the state fueling cars for those joining him for the tour.

In recent times, many Ghanaians have raised concerns about the long convoys of the President and his vice indicating that it is in variance with his promise of protecting the public purse considering how Ministers, Deputies and other appointees always run on fuel-guzzling vehicles like the V8’s.
The intercity STC (ISTC) began in 1909 as a Government Transport Department to cater for the needs of the central Government. In 1965, it was made a body corporate by Legislative Instrument (L.I) number 414 of 9th March 1965 to run commercial passenger services and was then called the State Transport Corporation (STC).
