Ghanaian Policeman falls to his death from an operational vehicle

One week funeral observation has been held for a police officer who fell from a police operational vehicle to his death.

The accident occurred at the Trades Union Congress (TUC) traffic intersection on the Liberia Road, near the Accra Technical University.

The police officer, Corporal George Nkwanna, alias Hero and the team were on their way to East Legon when their vehicle ran into a Nissan Highlander vehicle driven by a Catholic priest (name withheld).

According to the reports, Corporal George Nkwanna and other police officers were standing in the pickup bucket. Nkwanna fell off the pickup truck and died on the spot, while four others who sustained injuries were taken to the Police Hospital in Accra.

The One-week observance ceremony was held at the forecourt of the Accra Regional Police Command for Cpl Nkwanna attracted many police officers from all the 14 divisions of the command.

Family members and friends of the policeman, clad in red and black, mourned with other police officers and senior officers of the Accra Regional Police Command, including the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Frederick Adu Anim.

Corporal George Nkwanna aka Hero, was attached to the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit of the Accra Regional Police Command. He died at the age of 37 years. He was not married.
