I am getting death threats – Dr Elsie Kauffman speaks after 2021 NSMQ finals

Prof Elsie Effah Kaufmann, the smart and brilliant Quiz Mistress of the National Science & Maths Quiz – an annual science and mathematics content-based national level quiz competition for senior high schools in Ghana – has asserted she keeps getting death threats.

Speaking on Kessben TV after the tensed 2021 NSMQ Grand Finale held at KNUST Great Hall on Friday, November 26, 2021, Dr Elsie disclosed that she had messages from people especially on social media threatening her not to be biased against their schools whom they think have prepared enough for the competition.

On the backlash received on social media, the articulate Quiz Mistress expressed that she has almost all the time when she sits to moderate the educational program gets people who come at her, more particularly via comments.

She however explained the debate that awashed the internet during the finals that she gave more advantage to Prempeh College during the round each school was to use 15secs to solve a question.

According to her, the quiz is guided by rules and as such it’s spelt out to the contestants of the respective schools competing and if any school feels there’s a blunder they have the right to instantly raise concerns but not when the program has been done.

Elsie A. B. Effah Kaufmann is a Ghanaian academic, biomedical engineer and current Host of the National Science and Maths Quiz. Elsie Kaufmann started hosting the show in 2006.
