All doom prophets should be given 10-year jail sentence – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw

There have been a constant threat of death in our country especially those concerning people in high positions in Government and celebrities.

These so-called men of God always take credit for predicting the death of a high profile personality or a celebrity with the latest being Rev Owusu Bempah who after the death of former vice president of Ghana took credit for cautioning him[Amissah Arthur] to come to him for special or might lose his life.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie also took credit for predicting the death of late dancehall act, Ebony Reigns. Many of the celebrities have on countless occasions receive death threats from these prophets and it becoming alarming in this country.

Meanwhile, private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw has condemned these actions by those individuals who use the name of God to “spiritually assault” citizens.

The lawyer said, Ghanaian celebrities who receive death prophecies from pastors could sue them for the threat of death, which is punishable by a 10-year maximum jail sentence.

Speaking on Akua Amoakowaa’s late-night program, “The Purple Room” on Angel TV, he noted that some pastors use their positions to put fear in people which gives them the room to manipulate such innocent people.

“Someone can control you when he puts fear in you, and that is what they do. So if they put that reasonable fear in you, then you fall to their tricks and do everything they tell you to do,” lawyer Ampaw said.

“If a pastor tells you, you are going to die, it is a threat of death and you can sue him for a maximum death sentence of 10 years and five years minimum,” he continued.

“What baffles me is the strange tongues they speak. They pretend to be in the realms of the spirit and begin to make utterances about seeing a supposed attack from a family member,” he added.
