Former Black Stars player Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has ditched his profession as a professional footballer and has now switched to becoming a full-time rapper with the stage name “Blow”.

According to the 33-year-old former Arsenal winger, he decided to adopt the name “Blow” because that was the name his friends used to call him looking at how he was lavishly spending his money those days.

He added that he would soon be releasing his debut EP titled The Chapter very soon and everyone should be on the lookout for it.

On why he decided to quit playing active football and pursuing a career in music, Blow explained that it was a decision he took overnight but thought about it for a very long time before drawing his conclusion.

“Now that I am releasing my first solo mixtape, I want to show the world: this is me. This is what I am doing now.

“There was no Ronald de Boer type around in our neighborhood who said ‘With football, you have a future’.

“My role models were the money makers of the block. The street men driving around in horrible cars. “That was then the s*** for me, later I grew older and I made other choices. “I hope to make the people from the neighborhood proud. First as a footballer and now as an artist.”

Owusu Abeyie becomes the third Ghanaian footballer to have taken a career in music following general captain Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
