It is a new year with new beginnings but we cannot forget about the sad events that happened in 2018.
Such sad events where the death of prominent and famous Ghanaians which was a blow to the nation.
Below are famous personalities that passed away in 2018;

Kofi Annan
Kofi Atta Annan was a Ghanaian diplomat and a former UN Secretary-General who passed away in Switzerland on August 18, 2018, after a short illness.
He died at age 80 and had three children. May he continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord.
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur
The 67-year old Former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana passed away at the 37 Military Hospital on Friday, June 29, 2018.
He was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed at the Airforce Gym while he was training. May he rest in peace.

Ebony Reigns
Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng popularly Known as Ebony Reigns passed away in a gruesome accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi on February 8 whiles she was returning from a visit to her mother.
The Dancehall queen’s death was a big shock to Ghanaians and left many in tears. She died at age 20 and still won the Artiste of the year at the 2018Â Ghana Music Awards even in death.

Nana Turkson
Bertrand Nana Turkson died suddenly on 7th August after he battled diabetes-related complications.
He was one of Ghana’s finest entertainment analyst and passed away at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital.
Mac Jordan Amartey
Veteran Ghanaian actor, Mac Jordan Amartey kicked the bucket on 5th July at the Korle-Bu teaching hospital after battling a serious illness.
He died at age 82.
C.K. Mann
Veteran Ghanaian musician, Charles Kofi Amankwa Mann passed away on 20 March 2018 at the Ghapoha Hospital in the Western Region.
The ‘Adwoa Yankey’ hitmaker died at age 83. May he rest in perfect peace.
C.K. MannSuper OD
Veteran Ghanaian actor, Asonaba Kwaku Darko died in February at the Swedru Government Hospital in the Central Region.
Super OD has been battling serious health problems until his untimely death. He died at age 84.
Mr Jewel Ackah
Legendary Ghanaian musician, Jewel Ackah passed away on Friday, April 27 after battling stroke for almost a decade.
He is popularly known for composing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) anthem. He died at age 73.
Mr Joseph Henry Mensah
Veteran Ghanaian politician, Joseph Henry Mensah passed away on July 12 at the 37 Military Hospital where he was seeking medical treatment.
He was a founding member of the governing New Patriotic Party and also served in three ministerial positions under the John Agyekum Kufuor administration.
He died at age 89.
Mr Vincent Cyril Richard Arthur Charles Crabbe
The former supreme court Judge of Ghana passed away on September 7 at a hospital in Accra after a short illness.
He was the first Ghanaian to chair the Electoral Commission.
Mr Kwaku Baprui Asante
Senior Citizen and renowned stateman Kwaku Asante died on January 22 after a short illness.
He died at age 93 and was the only living former official under the administration of Kwame Nkrumah.
Professor Atukwei OKai
Renowned Ghanaian poet and social activist Professor Atukwei Okai passed away on July 13 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
He died at age 77 after a short illness.
Mr Francis Sasu
Mr Sasu who was the Head of news of Atinka Media Village passed away this year at his residence in Amasaman.
He died hours after visiting the hospital for a check-up. His death was a big blow to the media fraternity.
Alhaji Bature
Leading Member of the NDC and Founder and Editor of the Al-Hajj Newspaper died in January 2018.
The political commentator died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where he was admitted after suffering a stroke.
Alhaji Hearts
Also known as Alhaji Suleiman Braimah, he passed away on January 31 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
He was a long-serving member of Heart’s board and management and was around when the club conquered Africa in 2000.
Stacy Offei-Darko
Stacy who was the Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Program (NEIP) died on May 21, 2018.
It was reported that Stacy died after a liposuction Surgery at the Obengo Hospital which went wrong.
She died at age 37. May she rest in the bosom of the Lord.
Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremanteng Agyarko
Emmanuel Agyarko was the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon in the Greater Accra Region and passed away on November 21.
He died in a hospital in the United States of America after battling a short illness. He died at age 60.
Kuntu Blankson
The veteran actor took his own life on July 12 at his residence at Brafoyaw in the CapeCoast Metropolis.
He was popularly known for his role in Akan Drama.
Danfo B. A.
The Ghanaian movie producer and distributor also known as Kwaku Boakye died in October at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
He had been battling an illness for 12 months and passed away at age 50
Yussif Abubakar
The former Aduana Stars coach died at 60 at the KNUST Hospital in Kumasi after a short illness.
He died on November 20 and was buried the same day in accordance with Islamic Customs.
Abass Nurudeen
Abass ‘Blinkz’ Nurudeen was stabbed to death in Kumasi on November 7.
He was a makeup artist and kumawood actor.
