Tamale based and award-winner at the just-ended VGMAs, Fancy Gadam, has explained how he managed to ‘Song of the Year’ Award at the 2018 VGMAs.
Speaking in an interview, Fancy Gadam, disclosed that he deserved the award because his loyal fans went all out to ensure that he won. He said that his fan base was so strong and powerful that their votes could spell doom to any musician who was competing with him.
He also debunked rumours that he paid a bribe to win any of his awards and stated emphatically that he had his fans to thank for their massive support.
He revealed that he won one award in 2017 and managed to double his tally last Saturday at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) which was held at the Accra International Conference. He said it would not come as a surprise to him if he won 4 awards next year.
It has been reported that Fancy Gadam garnered an impressive 80,000 votes in the category of ‘Song of the Year’. His closest rival in the category managed a meagre 10,000 votes, railing by a whopping 70,000 votes.
Fancy Gadam’s song, ‘Total Cheat’ was adjudged the ‘Most Popular Song’ in 2017 beating the likes of Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’. Patapaa, who appeared gutted by the decision to pick Fancy Gadam’s song over his song, alleged that the Northern region-based musician had paid a bribe for his award.
