Ace music producer, Mark Okraku Mantey last week disclosed that he will sue Sarkodie for not doing the right thing.And what wrong did Sark do ? He recorded a rendition of Daasebre Gyamenah’s ‘Kokoko’ without his (Mark’s) permission.
Mark Okraku-Mantey who is the Executive Producer of the original version of the song was not happy after hearing Sarkodie’s rendition meant to be a tribute to the late Daasbre Gyamenah.
He said on Hitz FM.“I was in charge of the entire production of the song. I produced the song with Zapp Mallet and Daasebre just provided the lyrics,”
Speaking further on the issue he said;
“I heard the song courtesy of Jon Germain who sent it to me and I think it’s an honour to Daasebre. I am not impressed with the song and I do not know the inspiration behind the making of the song.
“For all you know, I do not want my song to be associated with certain elements like funeral, alcohol and what have you,” he added.
The issue generated a debate in the showbiz circles but Okraku-Mantey speaking on Hitz FM, Monday, said his earlier decision is on hold as Sarkodie and his management have reached out to him.
Sarkodie’s lawyer called Mark Okraku-Mantey over the issue. Sarkodie himself also spoke to Mark and expressed his sincere apology.
“Sarkodie’s lawyers called me over the weekend. Sarkodie himself called me. We’ve spoken,” he said.
Asked if that meant he has dropped the case, Okraku-Mantey responded by stating that,Yes he has!
And continued that they have a meeting within the week to discuss further.
