Market women returning from Simpoa in the Kwahu East District of Eastern Region have been robbed and raped in turns by armed robbers suspected to be nomadic Fulani herdsmen at Anyinasu in the Sekyere Afram Plains District of Ashanti Region.
The women numbering about 30 were robbed at a gunpoint. The suspected Fulani herdsmen armed robbers took turns to rape 4 of the women in turns as the remaining 25 women watched on.
They were threatened to be shot if any of them resisted and proved stubborn. The women had no choice but to lie prostrate as the armed robbers rob and rape them.

According to a report sighted on MyNewsGh.com, the District Chief Executive for Sekyere Afram Plains in the Ashanti Region Hon. Joseph Owusu, aka Odenkyem, confirmed the unfortunate incident and revealed the incident happened on Thursday 7th March 2019, a day after Ghana’s 62nd Independence Day celebration.
The DCE further “expressed worry about the increasing rate of crime in the area involving these Fulanis in the wake of destruction their cattle is causing to farms of indigenes indicating that the District Security Committee which he chairs, is awaiting doctors’ report to confirm the rape allegation but said no arrest has since been made,” MyNewsGh reported.
The police in the area have commenced an investigation into the incident but no one has been arrested yet.
Armed robbery and rape by nomadic Fulani herdsmen in the area are very common from what Ghpage.com has gathered. The District Security Committee has heightened surveillance to arrest these people who commit such atrocities but to no avail.
