Nevertheless, a popular National Patriotic Party member (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, is not happy with the way Ghanaian artiste were totally sidelined allowing only their Naija counterparts to dominate that night.

He wrote on his Facebook shortly after the event that: “Almost a perfect programme at the CAF Awards soiled by lack of local content. But why, they couldn’t find any Ghanaian musician? Pathetic!”

“Instead of treating us to some good Ghanaian performances, as well, CAF decided to populate the stage with Naija ones plus others, including a Nigerian artiste who was dressed as if he lost his way to the gym. I hear he is called Wizkid”, he stressed.

Meanwhile, Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah was crowned the African Player of the Year 2017. He beat competition from fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
