football star, George Weah Wins Liberia Election To Become the 25th President

The Liberian football legend, George Weah has been declared the winner of the presidential race in Liberia becoming the 25th president of the West African country.

George Weah has won the Liberian presidential run-off poll beating the current vice president, Joseph Boakai from the ruling party.

According to reports, the former football star won 12 of the 15 counties in Liberia with Boakai, 73 winning in two counties.

The 53-year-old George Weah will be succeeding Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the first female president of Liberia who will be retiring next month.

The former football star took to Twitter to thank Liberians for voting for him in Tuesday’s poll and assured that his supporters had made history.
