GES to introduce Chinese language into school curriculum

GES has announced plans to pilot the introduction of the Chinese language into the national curriculum.

This piece of information was announced by the Central Regional Director of Education, Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, who disclosed that Chinese language education has become an important addition to the educational landscape in the Central Region.

Mr. Essuman made these remarks at the inauguration of a regional training centre for local teachers in West African countries, an event attended by students from primary, basic, senior high, and tertiary institutions.

According to Mr. Essuman, all children in the Central Region will soon have access to Chinese language instruction, allowing them to communicate with people throughout the world.

“It is worthy to note that Chinese language education has provided an opportunity for students in the Central Region not only to learn a second language but also to pursue degrees in Chinese, access scholarships in China, participate in global competitions such as the Chinese Bridge, and secure employment in Chinese enterprises,” he stated.

He emphasized that “Chinese is one of the languages available for study” and noted that students can choose international languages as electives in the new secondary education curriculum.
