Ghana Black Starlets coach says he refused a $5,000 bribe

Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin, head coach of Ghana’s Under-17 male football team has disclosed in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM that he turned down a $5,000 bribe.

According to him, he was on a number of occasions approached by player managers, agents and club officials to get their players into the Under-17 team which was recently eliminated from the FIFA Under-17 World Cup which is currently ongoing in India.

“I have been constantly approached by player managers, agents, and club officials to get their players into the national team.In fact, the highest amount I have been tempted with as bribe is $5,000. I always say that I will not take bribes to discharge my duty so, despite the several attempts to bribe me, I will never fall foul.” He told Happy FM during the interview.

His team, the Black Starlets was eliminated from the FIFA Under-17 World Cup currently ongoing in India by Mali at the quarter-final after they were beaten by 2-1.
