The Gas explosion that occurred at the Atomic junction has left 7 people dead and almost 200 people injured. The explosion occurred on the night of Saturday, 7th October 2017.

Although the cause of this gas explosion is not yet known since the authorities are still investigating, it was previously alleged a Khebab seller’s fire caught the already leaking gas and that lead to the explosion. But The Ghana National Fire Service has debunked those rumors.

In light of the fact that this is the 8th explosion in 3 years, Ghanaians are outraged with the government for always rendering lip services to solve the problem whenever this kind of disaster happens but neglect to ensure the laws work when the disaster passes.

One person who has added his voice to these calls for the government to ensure the laws and policies work is Ghanaian musician and a staunch supporter of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP), Highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena.

Kwabena Kwabena took to his Instagram page to send a word of advice to the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo. He posted:

“Ok, so 8 gas explosions in 3 years. This is what happens in a country where structures exist but no work done. Town and country planning is zero, there’s no control, anybody can build anything anywhere without a permit, square pegs in round holes, all we do is politics. Mr. President, there’s a lot of work to do. God bless our Homeland Ghana”.
