Interior minister Ambrose Derry has revealed that the Ghana police service is expected to recruits 22,000 new personnel into the service in few months time. This will augment the shortfall of police officers in the country.
Per records of the Ghana Police Service, the ratio of security officials to civilians currently stands at 1 policeman to 500 Ghanaians.
The Ghana Police service also warned against recruitment scams when the recruitment date is due.
Not long ago, one Mark Awatey was arrested for swindling over 15 people to the tune of GH¢31,390 with the reason to help them get a job in the Police Service.

In an interview, Chief Supt. Joseph K. Owusu, Suhum District Police Commander, said the suspects, who lives at Suhum, between the months of August and September 2015, persuaded the victims that they would be recruited into the Police Service if they paid a specific amount which turned out to be a scam.
Expected recruits are being notified by the Ghana Police Service to only apply for recruitment via the official website of the Ghana Police Service and not through any third party.
