Africans currently living in China especially Guangzhou are being maltreated and facing racism after China recorded new Coronavirus cases.
Most of them are being subjected to random testing for COVID-19 and have also been evicted from their homes and hotels
In an interview with a Ghanaian living in the Guandong Province, she explained that it is only Africans that are being maltreated.
According to the woman, authorities in China disclosed a week ago that all Africans will be tested for Coronavirus.
After this information was revealed, landlords started ejecting their African tenants based on directives from the authorities.
The woman further stated that authorities in China embarked on this ‘wicked’ act based on 111 imported Coronavirus cases they received on 26 March, out of which 86 were Chinese Nationals and 25 are foreigners.
However, out of the 25 foreigners, 9 are Nigerians, 3 from Angola, 2 from DR Congo, 2 from Niger, 1 from France, Brazil, United Kingdom, Australia, Syria, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and Russia.
She explained that since majority of the imported cases are from Nigeria, all Africans in China are being accused of being positive with the virus and are being maltreated.
According to woman who has been living in China for 2 years, the maltreatment is only targeted at the Blacks who aren’t even allowed to shop at a supermarket or use public transport and hospitals.

She further stated that most of the Africans are living on the streets as hotels have been directed not to host them.
She also pleaded with the Foreign Ministry to come to their aid as they are now homeless and are also being maltreated.
