Ghanaian rap is dead but I will resurrect it – Pope Skinny

Ghanaian rapper and road manager of Shatta Wale, Pope Skinny has said in an interview that Ghanaian rap is dead and he would resurrect it.

According to the rapper who is also the CEO of Asuoden music, the reason why his colleague rappers Sarkodie, Kofi Kinata, Yaa Pono, et al. have resorted to singing instead of rapping is that rap genre in Ghana is dead.

“Rap is dead in Ghana. We can no longer sell rap. Because of this, Ghanaian rappers have turned to singers.”, he said on Zylofon Fm.

Pope Skinny who recently rebranded to “Asouden God” stated that the only way Ghana can resurrect the rap genre is for him to be reinstated as host of “Kasahari level” show on Adom FM, he will play a significant role to restore the lost glory of rap in Ghana.

It would be recalled that Pope Skinny was the host of “Kasahari Level” on Adom FM but left to follow Shatta Wale reasons best-known to himself.
